POSITION DESCRIPTION

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Education: Mining Engineering degree (Master’s degree preferred)
Experience: Minimum of 7 years of proven experience in underground mining and in a similar leadership role
Knowledge: Types of drilling methods
Special Knowledge: Business management; Quality and productivity standards
Areas of Expertise: Mine operations, types of mine support, mine ventilation, knowledge of work equipment, mine geology
Languages: Spoken English

POSITION OBJECTIVE

Establish and enforce safety standards for underground mining operations.
Promote a culture of safety and ethical values among staff.
Maintain a long-term operational vision.
Plan, organize, direct, and control the objectives and resources of mining operations.
Measure mine performance indicators.
Manage resources (machinery and personnel).
Work under quality standards to ensure compliance.
Oversee supply management for mining operations.
Manage contractors effectively.
Set achievable and measurable mine objectives to meet production goals.
Evaluate operational plans for compliance and effectiveness.
Assess mining works and progress.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Act as the Underground Mine Manager, overseeing Operations, Diesel Maintenance, and Electrical Maintenance.
Supervise contractors, with a strong emphasis on safety compliance.
As direct supervisor of Mine Engineering and Surveying, ensure underground development is properly aligned and ramp advancement is on schedule.
Ensure contractors meet their operational objectives.
Oversee installation and operation of essential infrastructure (air, water, energy, ventilation) for phase 2 development and production.
Responsible for all mine design, planning, and scheduling in alignment with company objectives.
Prepare production and development plans linked to the company’s strategic goals.
Develop and manage operating and capital cost budgets.
Continuously optimize underground mining operations to meet production and cost targets while strictly complying with all applicable environmental and safety regulations, with the ultimate goal of achieving zero incidents.
Establish standards and procedures for both mine and contractor operations.
Build and lead work teams.
Conduct cost analysis to ensure rational use of resources.
Implement and communicate safe work standards across the operation.
